This Test Case Template will help you document testing requirements for your project.  Test cases contain testing steps, descriptions, and expected results to validate compliance against a specific requirement.  In many ways, they resemble use cases as they both document a user’s interaction with the system.  The key difference is that a use case is used to analyze requirements and a test case is used to validate a requirement.

How are test cases used?

Test cases are used to document and validate the steps required to fulfill a set of customer requirements.  They are written to meet specific user acceptance criteria.  Meeting each test case’s acceptance criteria is necessary to move the functionality to a production release.
